Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a fast-paced Musical Comedy of the 1950's. It actually began as a play on Broadway in the late 1920's. The original story being written in 1925 by feminist Anita Loos is a typical gold-digger film. The dialogue, particularly when delivered by the blockbuster cast in the 1953 film version is absolutely brilliant. Equally the dance numbers that are staged by Jack Cole are among some of the best you will ever see in a musical. The costuming is this film is done so masterfully by William Travilla and the whole production by Howard Hawkes.

Jane Russell, the buxom and beautiful brunette is absolutely flawless in this film with her delivery of her wise-cracking hardened gal image. Marilyn Monroe is breathy, innocent and utterable irresistable. Back up these two exquisite actresses are the ever wonderful Charles Coburn Sr., Elliot Reid and Tommy Noonan amongst other stars.
