Very
often, I get emails from people writing to ask me if they
may use material from my site for school papers, building
their own websites and for publicatons. But even more
frequently, I find websites that have blatantly stolen
text, the layout, and images from my site with never even
asking and never even crediting my site. I have spent
a great deal of time developing my site and find it incredulous
that people are so inconsiderate. Some have even hard-linked
into my images, therefore using *my* server bandwidth
to serve up images on their site. Below you will find
some guidelines about using materials from this site.
Never,
ever hard link into someone else images.
This uses their server's bandwidth and is totally inconsiderate
and rude. Further, anyone who is hard linking into my
material will not only be banned access to the domain,
but will also be banned with their ability to link to
my material. Hard-linking is considered bad netiquette
(net etiquette) across the board. Don't do it.
Always
credit the site you have used materials from.
I do not require you to specifically request permission
to use text, images or sound files, however I do require
you to credit all material and information from this site.
This
can be done either by footnoting or linking to the web
address.
For
goodness sakes, please be original.
Can I tell you how many Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe
and Betty Grable sites exist now based solely on images
they stole from my site? There are a lot. A majority of
them have no links back to Bombshells. Do you really think
you are serving the Internet community with rehashing
what has already been done? No. If you use any materials
from this site, or any, be sure to make them have your
own perspective.
Finally,
when crediting the site for use in web sites, term papers
or publications I only ask that you note "from Dawn
Marie, Bombshells.Com."
